When camping in the UK, we’re faced with a unique proposition; go camping in March and it could be sunny or raining, go camping in July and it could be sunny or raining, go camping in October and…well, you get the idea. Therefore, every planned trip needs a great tent. Will the Vango Banshee 200 Pro Backpacking Tent be the one you need?
As a lightweight design (under 2.4kg), this two-person tent has all the brilliant features you would expect from Vango and for an affordable price too. Even in windy conditions, this particular tent lives us to expectations and pitching is made easier thanks to the colour-coded poles.
When pitching for the first time, it’s easy to see that Vango has considered the user when designing the shape, features, and overall look of the tent. For example, even small things like the reflective pegging points make it easier to install the tent under the moonlit sky. Let’s face it, we’ve all arrived late or needed to make late adjustments before so this addition is extremely helpful.
Key Features
Vango has offered this tent in the ‘backpacking’ niche, and they’ve done a terrific job of making it appropriate for this market. Despite the weight, the pre-angled poles allow for more room inside. Meanwhile, it offers fully-taped seams, a polyester groundsheet, durable ripstop fabric, and it is completely waterproof (the 5,000mm hydrostatic head tells us this much).
With walking pole attachment eyelets in the door, you’ll also be able to make yourself a porch awning for those sunny days. Additionally, the mesh ceiling allows air to come in and pass through but without risking lots of bugs invading your privacy during the night.
In terms of space, we believe it has enough room for one person and baggage or two people. Finally, both the front and rear are covered with flysheet vents which means you can actually allow a continual airflow from front to back during the day. By the time night comes, the tent should be a comfortable temperature on those hotter days.

Benefits
While some tent manufacturers risk going for a 3,000mm hydrostatic head, Vango has chosen 5,000mm for this one which should keep all occupants dry without too many issues.
All buyers will receive an emergency repair kit just in case something goes wrong when away from home; this is always useful even if we throw it in our camping bag and forget about it until needed.
The handy storage pockets allow you to put important items in a safe place and where they can be reached easily.
With Vango, you have an experienced tent manufacturer. This means you can be confident in the tent’s quality, but it also means you’ll have a fantastic customer support team to reach in case something is broken or damaged.
Drawbacks
In truth, there are very few drawbacks to this tent for the market it has entered. Therefore, we’ll just point out that some customers have had problems with the door zippers on the flysheet while others found the Tension Band System (another great addition for security) a little intrusive.
Summary
If you’re a backpacker and you’re looking for a new tent for either yourself or yourself and a partner, the Vango Banshee 200 Pro is highly likely to meet your needs and we would have no problem recommending it to all!
