This massive eight-man tent from Peaktop is designed to keep families or groups of friends dry, warm, and comfortable whenever out camping. Made from heavy-duty materials that provide ample protection from the elements while keeping cool during nice weather, the tent is a good investment for travelling groups that want to stay as comfortable as possible during their trip.

Peaktop 3+1 Rooms 8 Persons Large Family Group Camping Tent reviewThe design of the tent aims to sleep eight people, but it is probably best used to sleep between four and five. This because the three pods, while spacious, will get somewhat crammed when sleeping people and their equipment.

For instance, the centre sleeping pod is designed to sleep two people so is best used for any couples camping. The two other pods are slightly bigger so can hold three, but this could get quite crammed when including everyone’s supplies.

That said, if all supplies are stored in the massive living area at the centre of the tent, then you can probably sleep two people comfortably, but three might still be tight. In any case, it’s a versatile tent that gives the option to sleep a few or many people depending on what you need from it.

So, whether going camping with the family or hitting a festival with friends, the tent is well worth checking thanks to its large size, it is a great family tent.

In fact, you don’t even need to use all the sleeping pods. These are completely removable, so you can use the open space to store supplies or as a screened porch should the tent not be at full capacity.

On the flip side, if you have an extra camper or two you weren’t expecting, the living area can sit a few extra sleeping bags, with the tent having a possible capacity of 10 people when using the central area. It will be cramped but is good in a pinch should there be more people camping than anticipated.

The large living area comes with three doors, which provide fantastic air flow when all opened, and the central door Peaktop 3+1 Rooms 8 Persons Large Family tentcan even double as a sun canopy – perfect for relaxing outside when the sun is shining.

It is worth noting that the groundsheet isn’t sewn in to the main body of the tent, so bear in mind that water could make its way inside if the weather isn’t great. Each sleeping pod comes with a sewn-in groundsheet however, so you should remain dry should the worst happen with the weather.

However, the amount of rain required to make it inside would be substantial. The groundsheet is rip-stop polyethylene, which keeps out the cold, damp, and wetness from the ground. Better still, if the weather is good then you don’t even need to place it on the ground – instead you can enjoy the feeling of grass beneath your toes when relaxing in the living area!

The tent’s flysheet is made from an impressive 220T polyester material, meaning it’s built to last. It’s not just tear-resistant but also water and cold-resistant, helping to offer protection from all the worst elements you could face during a camping trip.

The water 3,000mm water column is among the highest possible ratings for tent this size, so it’s going to offer good protection from light and moderate rain, especially thanks to the leak-proof seams throughout tent.

The flysheet also designed to be very breathable, as are the materials on the sleeping pods, which keep condensation from developing to keep you dry and comfortable in the mornings.

Putting the tent up should not be too difficult, although those with little experience may need more time to get everything put together. This mainly due to the large size of the tent, but there are instructions included that should make setting up the tent easy enough.

The fibreglass poles provide a strong support for the tent, which can be a lifesaver in windier conditions, while tying everything down with the guy rope further increases the stability of the tent.

It event comes with a handy carry bag for easier transportation, although it will be on the heavier side because the tent is so large – bear in mind for anyone travelling long distances with the tent in their pack.

Peaktop have produced a strong and reliable tent for families or festival-goers. It comes with a very reasonable price, plenty of space for sleeping and storing, while being designed to help protect against rain, wind, and cold.
