For those looking for a three-person tent, we could have the answer today with the Vango Omega 350 Tent. With two rooms, two doors, and plenty of room inside, it looks ideal for anybody who likes to take regular trips with friends, family, and maybe even colleagues. But what about the finer details? Let’s take a look!
According to Vango themselves, this tent is perfect for all trips whether you’re camping for the weekend or planning a more extensive hiking trip. Thanks to the tunnel design, there’s no need to sleep with rain-soaked coats and muddy shoes (and the 5,000mm hydrostatic head ensures that rain stays where it belongs!).
If you choose Vango, one thing you’ll enjoy is their patented Tension Band System which has been designed and rigorously tested to keep the tent standing upright in harsh winds. Away from Vango’s own descriptions, it’s fair to say the Omega 350 has received widespread attention over the years.
With nearly a decade of experience in the market, this model has been given a Duke of Edinburgh award and is regularly included in the various lists of ‘top 10 tents’.
Though this is just one tent, the two rooms are separated completely and this is a feature we love. Rather than sitting among muddy clothing or sleeping among all the bags and equipment, it’s nice to have two rooms and it almost becomes a home away from home.
With a bathtub floor, the bedroom will have protection and it will also have ventilation thanks to the mesh section on the door. Unfortunately, some users have had problems with the buckles used to attach the linked-in floor to the shell; it can sometimes allow a draught to come through.
For the two large doors, one has mesh for ventilation (and for keeping bugs out!). Meanwhile, the windows are made of PVC and privacy comes from the inside shutters.
Of all the tents in the market, why should you even consider choosing the Vango Omega 350?
The Tension Band System is patented by Vango and is something you won’t find anywhere else.
With the design, there’s plenty of room for three people and the fantastic waterproof rating means that you and your belongings will stay dry.
Compared to other tents, we found plenty of pockets on this one…and pockets always come in handy.
We haven't really spoken much of the poles and installation, but this is relatively simple. With three poles in total, they’re made of Vango’s own PowerLite aluminium alloy; they’re also colour-coded so it’s hard to go wrong.
One of the doors doesn’t have mesh which can reduce ventilation slightly (but one mesh door is better than none!).
The floor in the living room isn't sewn in and this might be important for some buyers.
In this price range, the Vango Omega 350 is one of the best tents around. Of the two drawbacks we mentioned, these won’t even be important for most buyers and there’s plenty to love; it’s easy to pitch, waterproof, spacious, has a Tension Band System, durable material, ventilation, and two great rooms.
Although advertised as a three-person tent, we honestly believe it would suit a family with two adults and two small children; it’s certainly on the larger side of the three-person tent market!
